On November 30, 2024, the Korea Freedom Federation New Zealand Chapter (Chairman Ho-hyun Son) signed a sister chapter partnership agreement with the Busan Chapter of the Korea Freedom Federation at the Freedom Hall of the Korea Freedom Federation located in Busan.
The New Zealand Chapter was established on November 30, 2023, in response to the global rise of cultural hegemony led by socialist movements, with the purpose of defending the values of liberal democracy and supporting the permanent freedom of the Korean Peninsula. It has contributed to the promotion of Korea’s liberal democracy by hosting the screening of the film The Birth of Korea in New Zealand and through various other activities.
Founded in 1954, the Korea Freedom Federation is a national civic movement organization with a 71-year history, dedicated to defending and advancing liberal democracy and pursuing peaceful unification based on law.
The Busan Chapter, established in 1964, currently has over 103,000 members active in 16 district branches and 205 neighborhood committees. It is recognized as the most outstanding chapter of the Korea Freedom Federation in the Busan region, encompassing political, economic, social, and cultural sectors. Under the leadership of Chairman Shin Han-chun, youth, women, and senior councils at the neighborhood to metropolitan levels work in organic cooperation, greatly earning the trust of local residents.
This sister chapter partnership is meaningful as the ideological foundation of defending liberal democracy and the market economy naturally connects with economic and social interests. It will serve as a starting point for diverse activities, including overseas visits and language studies for youth, and the establishment of smooth business partnerships between members of both countries. This partnership holds great significance in passing on the superiority and values of liberal democracy to the next generation.
Chairman Ho-hyun Son of the New Zealand Chapter expressed hope that this sister chapter partnership will become a foundation for strong and sustainable business and cooperative exchanges between the two chapters. President Kang Seok-ho of the Korea Freedom Federation personally called to praise the enthusiasm and activities of the New Zealand Chapter and congratulated them on the new partnership, anticipating further development for both chapters. Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, officially congratulated the cooperation between the two chapters and expressed expectations for future activities.
At the sister chapter partnership ceremony, Chairman Ho-hyun Son, Vice Chairpersons Lee Seong-hoon and Kim Eun-hwa, and Cultural Promotion Director Kim Seong-hee from the New Zealand Chapter paid respects at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery and laid flowers to honor the noble sacrifices of New Zealand troops in Korea. The ceremony took place in a warm and harmonious atmosphere with 12 executives from the Busan Chapter, led by Chairman Shin Han-chun. Everyone looks forward to the continued development of both chapters as partners in business and leaders in defending liberal democracy.
