July 27, 2026 — 73rd Anniversary of the Korean War Armistice Day

On July 27, 2026, marking the 73rd anniversary of the Armistice Agreement, we once again reflect deeply on the noble sacrifices and dedication of our war veterans.

We sincerely thank the officials who invited us to the 73rd Armistice Agreement Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony and Luncheon hosted by the Auckland Consulate General of the Republic of Korea.

It was a very meaningful time to meet the veterans who devoted themselves to the Republic of Korea, as well as representatives of the New Zealand Navy, and to have thoughtful conversations with them in person.

Seventy-six years ago, the courage and sacrifice of the veterans who fought with their lives to defend the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea became the precious foundation upon which today’s Korea was built, and also formed the basis of the strong friendship and cooperation between Korea, New Zealand, and other like-minded free nations.

Although time has passed and their bodies are no longer as strong as they once were, their conviction in freedom and devotion to their homeland continue to move and inspire us deeply.

The veterans are greater than any heroes, and we will never forget their noble sacrifice.

The Korea Freedom Federation is a civic national movement organization established and supported under the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Korea.

Members of the Korea Freedom Federation New Zealand Chapter firmly pledge to inherit the values of freedom and peace protected by our veterans’ lives, to stand at the forefront of defending liberal democracy, promoting friendship between Korea and New Zealand, and passing on a proper understanding of history and security to future generations.

Because of the noble sacrifice and dedication of our veterans, today’s free and prosperous Republic of Korea exists.

We are truly proud.

We deeply respect you.

And we sincerely thank you.

We sincerely pray that all veterans remain healthy at all times and enjoy happiness and peace with their families.
