한국자유총연맹(총재 강석호)은 7월 17일부터 23일까지 6박 7일간 ‘해외동포 MZ세대 자유민주주의 공감 모국연수’ 행사를 진행한다.

‘자유민주주의 공감 모국연수’는 지유총연맹 35개 해외지부의 추천을 통해 선발된 해외동포 MZ세대들이 대한민국의 역사, 문화, 안보를 체험하며 자유민주주의의 가치를 이해하고, 올바른 국가관과 안보관을 형성할 수 있도록 마련됐다.

또한, 모국에 대한 정체성과 자긍심을 고취하고, 글로벌 MZ세대 간 교류를 통해 차세대 네트워크와 리더십을 함께 키우는 데 목적이 있다.

모국연수단은 미국, 뉴질랜드, 프랑스, 라오스, 캐나다, 인도네시아 등에서 온 40명의 해외동포 학생으로 구성됐다.

모국연수단은 전일 입소식을 시작으로 현충원 참배, 민주화운동기념관 방문, 한국민속촌과 경복궁 견학 등에 참여할 예정이다. 특히 민주화운동기념관은 과거의 역사를 통해 민주주의를 깊이 이해하고 배울 수 있는 교육·전시·연구가 종합된 공간으로, 민주열사들의 희생과 삶을 되새기는 뜻깊은 체험의 장이 될 예정이다.

연맹 박태우 연구원장은 “이번 모국연수를 통해 참가자 한 명 한 명이 한민족으로서 자긍심과 정체성을 더욱 굳건히 하며, 대한민국 자유민주주의의 가치를 널리 알리는 미래세대로 성장하기를 기대한다”라며 모국연수단의 방문 의미를 되짚었으며, “앞으로도 우리 연맹은 해외동포 MZ세대가 올바른 국가관과 안보관을 갖춘 차세대 글로벌리더로 발돋움할 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원해 나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.

The Korea Freedom Federation (President Kang Seok-ho) is holding the 7th “Homeland Training Program for Overseas Korean MZ Generation: Embracing Liberal Democracy” from July 17 to July 23, 2025, lasting six nights and seven days.

This program was designed for selected overseas Korean MZ generation participants recommended by 35 overseas branches of the Federation. It offers an immersive experience of Korea’s history, culture, and security to help participants understand the values of liberal democracy and develop a proper sense of national identity and security awareness.

The program also aims to inspire pride and identity toward the homeland and foster future leadership and networks through exchanges among global MZ generation participants.

The group consists of 40 overseas Korean students from countries including the United States, New Zealand, France, Laos, Canada, and Indonesia.

Starting with an opening ceremony, the itinerary includes visits to the National Cemetery, the Democracy Movement Memorial Hall, Korean Folk Village, and Gyeongbokgung Palace. Notably, the Democracy Movement Memorial Hall provides a comprehensive educational, exhibition, and research space to deeply understand democracy through historical reflection, honoring the sacrifices of democracy activists.

Park Tae-woo, Research Director of the Federation, emphasized that through this program, each participant will strengthen their pride and identity as Koreans and grow into future generations who widely promote the values of Korea’s liberal democracy. He added that the Federation will continue to support overseas Korean MZ youth to become next-generation global leaders with a sound national and security perspective.
